Templestowe Grange initiated a strategic OHS program (known as 'Safety First'), incorporating industry standard and best practice manual handling systems for the transfers of the facility's residents.
To combat the risks associated with manual handling, the facility's management and staff developed a systematic safety strategy, including policies on handling, comprehensive risk assessments, training and purchasing ergonomic equipment. The 'no lift' approach has been implemented in relation to all manual handling systems in the facility, not just patient handling.
